As soon as the sun had set on October 31st, the Christmas season officially commenced.
Decking the streets that pour into the city centre are silvery snowflakes and not far inside of intu sits a massive fir tree with sparkling ornamentation.
Being the Christmas-lover that I am, I long for any excuse in the book to listen to Christmas music and surround myself with all things relating to this wonderful season!
Although November has only just begun, it is obvious that a new (and exciting) season has started.
You can’t walk the streets of Nottingham and not see something related to the upcoming holiday. It absolutely makes my heart sing Joy to the World! This is what I have waited all year for!
[Shout out to Emily who shares my passion for all things Christmas! You know how it is!]
Just as all these signs point to the beginning of the Christmas season, so many things occurring in my life lead me to believe that the Lord has brought me to the starting line of a new season in my journey with Him.
Many people have asked me what I think of Nottingham so far. And, although there are variations of the question, there is no divergence in my answer.
I feel that God has been preparing me to be here for my whole life.
I know that may sound dramatic or a little over the top, but it’s true.
Think about the preparation that goes on behind the scenes in retail for the Christmas season. One moment, there is hardly anything Christmas-related on display. You walk into town the next day and BAM! emerald and cherry-red decoration is everywhere.
Now, these decorations didn’t just magically appear as you walked by.
There was someone (or many someones) who worked to make that a reality, so that when you see what is on display, you are reminded of what time it is.
The same can be said for our spiritual preparation. God has been molding and directing us to step into the destiny He has so lovingly drawn out for His children.
One moment, you only think it’s November 1st, but then you turn the next corner and you are wowed at the reminder that it is now the Christmas season!
Ecclesiastes 3:1 reads, “There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven–”
Perhaps today the Lord is trying to show you that He wants to start a new season in you. But, as we serve a gentle God, He is not going to force His plan on you.
Do not ignore the signs and displays telling you that the old season is done and a new season has begun. You can’t move on to the future if you keep desperately clinging to the past.
Allow for God to change up some scenery in your life. That doesn’t necessarily mean that what God prunes away in your life was bad, but that He has something even better.
‘Tis the season to have God move in you and through you in a mighty way! Don’t miss it.
